I can’t remember if I posted about this or not, but I had a successful time at the gym today.
My favourite part was actually coming to the realization that I am fit. Like, really fit. I can properly enter races and compete in things again now, if I feel like it! I’m strong and toned. It’s pretty sweet to have gladiator legs and a core of steel.
(I work hard for this! I’m allowed to brag.)
LET’S RACE THE PRIZE IS FOOD
Today Looked Like This
1. Crash until sleep at 1am.
2. Wake up at 3:30am. Fail to get back to sleep.
3. Go to work at 5:20am. Open the store alone.
4. Bake the most beautiful muffins, croissants, cookies, scones, and cinnamon rolls the world has ever seen.
5. Be a success. Eat celebratory english muffin with egg and cheese.
6. Come home. Pass out cold for 30 minutes.
7. Bike to the gym.
8. Run 5km then do 40 minutes of endurance training.
9. Confide in PT about major depression and why it’s so hard to live with.
10. Grocery shop.
11. Drop entire carton of eggs on the road. Salvage six.
12. Bike home.
13. Put away groceries.
14. Realize how scarily awake my brain is.
15. Try to nap
16. ???
17. Profit
Tomorrow will be my third 5:30am shift in a row, only this one comes with a twist:
I’ll be opening the shop, baking, cleaning, and serving customers alone until the next worker comes in an hour later. Basically, this means everything in the shop hinges on me - if I’m unsuccessful, the regulars will get pissed and the store won’t make money.
GROWN UP LYFE
(Seriously though, I’ve been getting a lot of hours so far, at least, in my world… a lot more than I was expecting after requesting I start out slowly and see if having a job again is even something I can handle yet. I need to mention to my boss that things might need to get toned down a little bit so as to keep me calm and healthy [non-stressed to tears] while still allowing me to be successful at holding a job. Once my OW forms are signed by my doctor, I’ll be able to turn down hours, but until then I’ve got to find a way to bite the bullet and keep at this as best I can, I guess.)
I’ll round this out by reminding myself that it’s not so terrible to be up early sometimes; one of the nicest things about working this shift is how quiet the streets are while I head to work. Most days they’re lovely and foggy, and almost entirely devoid of people. I love it.
What happened today with the little yellow house?
Ah yes, the little yellow house! I keep forgetting to post about that.
I’m happy to report that everything turned out well, and I’m expecting to start renovation the day I get the key, which should be June 14th. In the meantime, I’m beginning to collect boxes from work to pack my things in, and have started making design and organizational lists so that I can get the basic work needs taken care of as soon as I get there. The idea is to take a full week to get the place as clean, liveable, and ready for my furniture and belongings as possible, while simultaneously doing some of the larger cosmetic repairs (of which there are a lot) before actually fully moving in. I’m estimating it’ll take about a week to have it fully prepped for stuff to move in, but I’ll be living there throughout (just sleeping in the loft at night) so if it happens to take a bit longer then it’s no real problem.
